I had my first taste of CRW (Canopy Relative Work) and it tasted good. Special thanks to Tim Johnston for bringing his CRW gear to Skydive Moncton and taking the time to show us how to ‘crash’ into each other… safely.
On the load: Skyhawk’s Andrew Pertus, Rick Nelson, Tim ‘first hit is free‘ Johnston, Herb ‘don’t worry I’ll be there‘ Thompson, and me (Darryl ‘wow, that opening was crisp‘ Deagle).
It’s been real. It’s been fun. It’s been real fun. But, after almost 12 years with my current employer, it’s time to try something new.
Instead of yet another long and forgettable ’thank you for all the wonderful times‘ email, I decided to let everyone off the hook and instead ask everyone to use the time to enjoy some quality classic rock.
Made a quick road trip over the weekend and stopped in to Skydive New England for a few jumps.
Found a great new (and FREE) service that lets you remotely interact with your android device (lock, erase, send msg, take picture, etc).
Check it out http://www.androidlost.com
So you bought a computer (laptop, desktop, tablet, phone, whatever). The buyer’s remorse kicks in or you found a better deal somewhere else. Ok, no problem, you just return it, right?
Wait! Before returning it to the store be sure to wipe (erase) ALL of your data from the hard drive.
Not sure how to erase a hard drive? See this > http://www.howcast.com/videos/284966-How-To-Erase-Your-Hard-Drive or http://www.pcworld.com/article/157126/how_to_completely_erase_a_hard_drive.html
Need a free HDD eraser tool? > http://www.killdisk.com
Still don’t think it matters? Check this out – Staples was caught reselling computers with personal data on it.
So, erase that drive before returning or selling anything with personal data on it.
Not my best wingsuit jump, and not the worst, but the first with my new Flysight GPS, GoPro video and paralog to tie it all together. This is simply a test to see how well the overlay of GPS data maps to the actual flight. It’s still not perfect (need to tweak the timing) but works well as a proof-of-concept. Hope this encourages others to get out and log your jumps this way and post the results.
Work on the new DZ infrastructure came to a screeching halt as the sun finally came out for a few hours today. Lots of ‘FIRSTS’ were had… too many to mention.. but you know who you are.
